Every fuckin' bad guy, every single one can't seem to ever shut up when shit gets serious! But every single one has an enormous ego, and it always costs them dearly!

To be fair, Wilomein was always arrogant. But yes, it's like a James Bond sort of thing- bad guys have to let everyone know how clever they were. I like to think of it as their way of twisting the knife.

OR! it's just so hard to meet other people in that line of work, when you're trying to take over the world. 'It's lonely at the top' an all that. You can't just reveal your plans to people who're going to just go around blathering about doomsday weapons and rediscovered ancient artifacts.

Megalomaniacs tend not to be anti-social, I mean who are you going to rule if there's no one else around? But there's just so few safe people who aren't backstabbing lieutenants or sniveling yes-men, so when a decent hero comes along, it's like 'finally someone to talk to!'. Followed up by the temptation to talk too much to someone who is 'safe' because 'dead men tell no tales' AND the bitter regrets of 'oh crap this is only person I have had decent conversation with in years' all leads to conflicted slip-ups. Which has a smart guy thinking 'aha! get a death timer' but we all know how well that works. Better to just kill the hero and pretend corpse is mid-dying, yes it's sad and gross, but better. Just take care to make sure ghost is banished first and doesn't tell other heroes about secret plans.

At least, that's what my overlord friend tells me. *cough*
