You grasped an important point about the concept of immortality. It also means the death of everything you know, and that eventually will include yourself. At best, trapped in a world impossible to understand. At worst, doomed to wander in a circle forever, the center being always out of reach.

Have you heard of the game Betrayer? The setting is a lost colony in the 1600s and it's quite macabre.

Oh absolutely. I have a copy on Steam and I've played through it some years ago. It's an interesting setting. Definitely wasn't among my favorites, but I won't deny it has a distinctive atmosphere and mood.

I'm surprised at just how large the internet has become, in the past games like Betrayer and comics like yours would've made the top of my reading list after being published. Now I'm finding it years later and only then after a spirit recommended it. Maybe search engines just can't keep up with all the challenges to indexing these days.

Maybe. I suspect popularity and lack thereof comes into play too.

Well, I never go through popular lists when it comes to fiction. Auto-generated related lists are sometimes OK, but inevitably someone 'fixes' them to favor adverts. The best are user-driven recommendations like those on MAL, in my opinion.
